French Language

Alliance Française provides classes in French from junior infant right through to 6th class. Through lively and stimulating activities, children of primary school age build up a broad and lasting knowledge of the French language. Classes closely follow children’s development and abilities. Our teachers are all native French speakers and experienced in working with children.  Every child is given ample opportunity to actually speak French.

Irish Language

To supplement the Primary School curriculum taught by our teachers; our native Irish speaker Niamh comes in on Mondays to have spraoi agus craic with our children as Gaeilge.

We believe this is unique to our school and the motivation is that our children will see Irish used in a natural fun way. Hence they will have positive associations with the Irish language and this will encourage them to enjoy it and use it.

Swimming

Classes will take place each Friday morning in Belvedere College and are open to children aged 4 years and upward.

Music

We are the only primary school in Ireland to provide ‘Kindergarten’ classes (3-6 years) using the Kodaly method. This method is based on the Hungarian composer and educator Zoltán Kodály.  It aims to instill a love of music in the child and to nurture key musical skills such as beat, rhythm and intonation.  Older children can avail of classes in recorder and flute.

Religion Education

We are a non-denominational school where no formal religion classes are given. However we do provide after school classes for the preparation for Roman Catholic sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation for those wishing to avail of it.

First Holy Communion is held in the local parish church where our children and their teacher organise and participate in all aspects of the mass. This is followed by a small party for the children and their families in the school before going on to enjoy their own family celebrations.

Confirmation is also held in the local parish church. After the mass tea & cakes are served in the school for the children and their families.
